Penn State Men’s Hockey Drops One Spot To No. 6 In Latest USCHO Poll

Penn State men’s hockey dropped one spot to No. 6 in the latest USCHO Poll.

The move to No. 6 comes after the Nittany Lions were swept by Michigan State over the weekend.

Guy Gadowsky’s team had a rough weekend in East Lansing. After leading 2-0 entering the third period in game one on Friday, Penn State gave up three unanswered goals in an overtime loss. In game two, Penn State blew a 3-1 lead in the second period and ultimately went to overtime tied 4-4. The Nittany Lions ended up losing in a shootout.

Although the Nittany Lions still took two points from the series, it’s the first time all season Penn State has been swept. The Spartans, therefore, win the season series 3-1.

Also ranked in the Big Ten is Minnesota (No. 2), Ohio State (No. 7), Michigan (No. 8), and Michigan State (No. 15).

Penn State’s next series is at home against Notre Dame this upcoming Friday and Saturday, with puck drop scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively. Saturday’s matchup will be the annual Wear White game.
