Penn State’s Roman Bravo-Young Named Co-Big Ten Wrestler Of The Week
Just days removed from No. 1 Penn State wrestling’s huge 23-14 win over No. 2 Iowa, Nittany Lion star Roman Bravo-Young took home even more acclaim.
Bravo-Young was named the Co-Big Ten Wrestler of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning. The Nittany Lion shared the distinction with Ohio State’s Jesse Mendez.
Bravo-Young is the second Penn State wrestler to earn the honor this season, joining Max Dean, who won the award in December.
During Friday’s dual, Bravo-Young came up clutch with a late pin of Iowa’s Brody Teske. In the final seconds, Bravo-Young recorded his fourth takedown of the match, locked up a cradle, and secured a fall with just 11 seconds remaining to help Penn State take back an early lead.
On the year, Bravo-Young boasts a perfect 10-0 record with three pins, two tech falls, and four major decision victories. Bravo-Young’s undefeated individual record matches Penn State’s overall record. In addition to occupying the No. 1 seed nationally, the Nittany Lions are 11-0 and 4-0 in conference competition.
Penn State wrestling’s season will continue on Friday, February 3 as it enters another Big Ten matchup. The Nittany Lions will travel to Ohio State at 7 p.m. on yet another national telecast.
