10 Questions With The THON Orange Inflatable Girl

Plenty of people come to THON in unique outfits, but at THON 2023, one stood out. At the bottom of section 109 of the Bryce Jordan Center stood one passionate THON supporter, dressed in an orange inflatable costume and waving her hands to the music.

Of course, we went and talked to this THON supporter to find out more about what they do and who they are.

Onward State: What’s your name?

Orange Inflatable Girl: Catherine Martam

OS: What brings you to THON?

OIG: I’m here to support my org, Boulevard.

OS: Why are you wearing the suit?

OIG: I’m just here to keep my org’s dancers happy. I’m just here to have a good time and help them have a good time.

OS: Where did you get it?

OIG: I got it sophomore year of high school for Halloween.

OS: How many THONs have you been to? Did you wear the suit to past THONs?

OIG: This is my second THON. I did not [wear the suit to past THONs].

OS: Why are you wearing it this year?

OIG: My dad sent it to me in the mail because he thought it’d be a fun time, and I went with it and I enjoy it.

OS: How long will you be at THON this year?

OIG: I’m not sure. This year, I’m probably aiming for 36 [hours].

OS: It’s currently 5 a.m. and you still have plenty of energy, how are you doing it?

OIG: I have no idea. I think it’s magic.

OS: What’s your favorite part of THON?

OIG: I would say the line dance. I know that’s a basic answer. But what can I say?

OS: Is there anything that you want to say to the people?

OIG: Just go out and buy an inflatable dude costume. You’ll have a great time. It’s always a good time.
