Penn State Men’s Hockey Stays At No. 8 In Weekly PairWise Rankings

Penn State men’s hockey stayed put at No. 8 in the latest PairWise rankings. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions dropped to No. 11 in the USCHO Poll.

Penn State stays at No. 8 after its elimination from the Big Ten Tournament against Ohio State in Columbus. After a 5-1 blowout loss in game one, the Nittany Lions edged the Buckeyes in a 2-1 overtime win in game two. Game three came down to the wire, but Ohio State ultimately won 3-1 to advance to a single-elimination matchup against Michigan this coming weekend.

Meanwhile, Penn State will discover its fate when the NCAA Tournament bracket is released on March 19. Given that Penn State is ranked within the top 16 teams in both the PairWise and USCHO Polls, there is reason to believe its season isn’t over yet.

If Penn State is to continue playing, it will be at the NCAA Regional Semifinals in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which will take place from March 23 to 26.

Meanwhile, No. 1 Minnesota, No. 4 Michigan, No. 9 Ohio State, and No. 18 Michigan State are the other Big Ten teams ranked in the USCHO Poll.
