Report: Penn State Hoops’ Dallion Johnson Enters Transfer Portal

Dallion Johnson may be leaving Penn State.

The junior guard is reportedly entering the transfer portal, according to Verbal Commits.

The announcement comes after Penn State’s NCAA Tournament run, which finished in the Round of 32 against No. 2-seeded Texas.

Johnson played 23 games during the 2022-23 season for the Nittany Lions but didn’t make any starting lineups. He often struggled to secure impactful minutes, playing 199 minutes across the entire season, and he didn’t appear in the final game against Texas.

The Massachusets native was often unable to keep up with Micah Shrewsberry’s three-point-heavy offense, shooting at under a 30% clip from beyond the arc. He finished the season averaging two points per game, which ranked 11th on the team.

Johnson is the first player to reportedly make any intentions to leave the program early, though, the Nittany Lions will lose starters Jalen Pickett, Cam Wynter, Andrew Funk, and Myles Dread to eligibility. The squad could lose Seth Lundy, too, if he opts to not use his COVID-19 eligibility year.
