Five Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Stars Named USA Lacrosse Magazine All-Americans

Penn State men’s lacrosse is in the spotlight, folks.

Five members of the Nittany Lions were named All-Americans by the USA Lacrosse Magazine, the magazine announced Tuesday. Penn State’s roster was tied with Maryland and Princeton for the fourth-most players named All-Americans per school.

While the Nittany Lions didn’t see any players named to the All-American first team, goaltender Jack Fracyon led the group with a nod to the second team. Fracyon led the Big Ten in goals against average this season and was named to the First-Team All-Big Ten roster and earned the honor of Big Ten Specialist of the Year.

Fellow sophomore Matt Traynor was named to the All-American third team as the only Nittany Lion in the group. Thus far in the 2023 season, Traynor totaled 27 goals and seven assists for the Nittany Lions as the midfielder established himself as a leader on offense.

TJ Malone, Grant Haus, and Jack Posey were all given honorable mentions by the magazine. Malone was named First-Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year after registering 26 goals and 28 assists for a career-high 54 points, which led the conference. Haus and Posey were both named to the All-Big Ten second team after strong defensive seasons.

The Nittany Lions will continue their 2023 campaign in the NCAA Tournament, which begins with a matchup against Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, at Panzer Stadium.
