Watch list season is upon us.

Sophomore linebacker Abdul Carter and junior cornerback Kalen King were each named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list Thursday night.

The Lott IMPACT (Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity) Trophy, named after former NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, honors a defensive player that’s had the biggest impact on his team both on and off the field.

Penn State is among seven schools with multiple candidates named to the 42-man watch list. Within the Big Ten, Ohio State and Michigan are the only other schools to have more than one player named to the list.

During the 2022 campaign, King appeared in all 13 games and led the Big Ten in both passes defended and pass breakups.

Carter also had a productive 2022 season and started in six of 13 appearances as a freshman, while leading the team in sacks.

The winner of the IMPACT Trophy will be selected by a national voting panel, and the winner will be announced at a gala on December 10, 2023, in Newport Beach, California.
