Former Penn State Hoops Guard Camren Wynter Joins Temple Coaching Staff

Camren Wynter is heading back to Philly, folks.

The former Penn State men’s basketball guard was named a special assistant to head coach Adam Fisher at Temple, as announced by the program Tuesday.

Wynter will rejoin Fisher, a former assistant coach with the Nittany Lions after the two were part of Penn State’s NCAA Tournament run in 2023. The team reached the second round of the tournament for the first time since 2001.

The Temple job is Wynter’s first coaching position in college basketball. In a release, Fisher said that Wynter had high potential as a coach.

“I know that our student-athletes will have a great role model and positive influence every day with [Wynter],” Fisher said. “I can’t wait for our student-athletes, alumni, and fans to interact with him and see why he’s an up-and-coming superstar in the coaching profession.”

In his one year with Penn State, Wynter played in all 37 games and made 33 starts. He averaged 8.9 points per game while shooting at a 47.7% clip from the field in former head coach Micah Shrewsberry’s three-point-heavy offense.

Prior to his time with the Nittany Lions, Wynter spent four years at Drexel, where he was a three-time captain and a four-time team MVP. He finished his time with the Dragons with 1,657 points, which improved to a career total of 1,988 points after his time at Penn State.
