Former Penn State Running Back Devyn Ford Transfers To Notre Dame

Former Penn State running back Devyn Ford announced his transfer to Notre Dame, he shared Friday on Twitter.

The Stafford, Virginia, native joined Penn State as a four-star recruit in the program’s recruiting Class of 2019. He’ll arrive in South Bend with two years of eligibility remaining.

Upon his arrival at Penn State, Ford found near-instant success and appeared in 12 games during his true freshman season. He also became the first Penn State freshman to rush for 100 yards in a game since Saquon Barkley in 2015.

Despite the initial success, Ford appeared in only four games last season before he left the program midseason to focus on academics. Ford later entered the transfer portal in April.

Ford closed his Penn State career with 666 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 140 carries. He also recorded 103 receiving yards through 20 receptions.

Ford is one of several Nittany Lions to find a new home in the transfer portal this offseason. Cornerback Storm Duck and running back Keyvone Lee recently announced their departures from Happy Valley to Louisville and Mississippi State, respectively.
