Bo Nickal Dominates At UFC 290 With Knockout Victory
Bo Nickal is on a roll.
The former Penn State wrestler defeated Valentine Woodburn in a first-round knockout at UFC 290 Saturday night to win his fifth professional fight in as many bouts.
Since completing his dominant wrestling career at Penn State, Nickal took his talents to the world of mixed martial arts. After winning his UFC pay-per-view debut, Nickal rode a red-hot 4-0 record into his Saturday night fight.
Nickal (5-0) faced a significant threat from Woodburn (7-1), who had won five of his previous seven fights via knockout. Despite this, Nickal opened as a -2500 favorite, according to CBS, making him one of the biggest favorites in UFC history.
Nickal wasted no time against Woodburn and defeated him in the first round via knockout in just 38 seconds.
After surviving a clean shot from Woodburn, Nickal swiftly countered with a combination of right and left hooks and eventually finished off the Jamaican fighter with a left uppercut.

The victory keeps the Penn State great undefeated in the MMA scene following five-straight first-round victories.
