Penn State Men’s Soccer Alum Mark Fetrow Named Drexel Men’s Soccer Head Coach

Former Penn State men’s soccer defender Mark Fetrow was named the head coach of Drexel men’s soccer, the program announced Saturday.

Fetrow becomes the seventh head coach in the Drexel men’s soccer history.

Fetrow was a three-year starter at Penn State and played in two NCAA Tournaments. During his freshman season in 2008, he was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team and the Big Ten Championship All-Tournament team. Fetrow finished his time at Penn State with three goals and 51 starts through 59 appearances. He was then drafted by the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft.

After his playing days were over, Fetrow spent one year in Happy Valley as a graduate assistant. He later earned an assistant coaching job at West Chester University prior to a stint at Villanova.

With the Wildcats, Fetrow earned a promotion from assistant coach to associated head coach while he led the team to an at-large bid at the NCAA Tournament in 2018. Villanova defeated Vermont for its NCAA Tournament win in school history.

“I am thrilled to accept this opportunity as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Drexel University,” Fetrow said in a release. “I am excited to work with our current players, foster relationships with Drexel alumni, and collaborate with faculty and staff to continue a legacy of triumph and growth.”
