Omari Evans Named To Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List

Sophomore wide receiver Omari Evans was named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list Thursday.

The award honors the top Division I football player who was born in Texas, graduated from a Texas high school, played at a Texas-based junior college, or currently plays at a Texas Division I four-year college.

Evans was born in Killeen, Texas, and attended Shoemaker High School in Texas, making him eligible for the award.

During his true freshman season, Evans caught five passes for 55 yards, one of which was a 32-yard strike for a touchdown against Ohio. Evans also recorded two kick returns for 33 yards.

During the 2022 Blue-White Game, Evans was the offensive standout and recorded 80 yards and caught the only touchdown of the game.

The watch list will be narrowed down to 16 semifinalists in November, with the five finalists being announced in December. The winner will be announced in Tyler, Texas, at the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet on January 10.
