Penn State Football Offensive Lineman Landon Tengwall Retires From Football

Penn State football offensive lineman Landon Tengwall has retired from the sport of football, he announced Wednesday. Tengwall cited an injury that would not allow him to play the sport safely.

“Penn State will always be my home,” Tengwall wrote in a statement on Twitter. “I will always be a proud Penn State football player. Penn State has the greatest fans in the world and I want to thank all of you for supporting me during my time on the field and now in my next chapter.”

Tengwall, who would have been a redshirt sophomore entering the 2023 season, was expected to start at left guard for the Nittany Lions. Tengwall had started five games in 2022 after missing the rest of the season to injury. It is unclear if the injury that caused Tengwall to miss last season is the same injury that forced him to retire.

Tengwall played for the Nittany Lions while a freshman at Penn State as well, appearing against Rutgers and Michigan State. He committed to the program as a member of the recruiting Class of 2021. He was rated as a four-star recruit by the 247Sports Composite ratings and selected Penn State over Notre Dame.
