Penn State Football Without Notable Personnel Against Delaware

Penn State will be without key defensive linemen, a cornerback, and a wide receiver for its matchup against Delaware, according to the team’s availability report.

On the defensive side of the ball, defensive tackle Coziah Izzard, cornerback Daequan Hardy, and defensive end Amin Vanover are listed as out. On offense, wide receiver and special teams captain Malick Meiga is listed as out, while fellow pass catcher Omari Evans is listed as questionable. The availability report does not list reasons for statuses.

Izzard, a potential starter, appeared in nine games last season where he made ten tackles, including four tackles for loss, two sacks, and a quarterback hurry. The Columbia, Maryland, native didn’t play in last week’s game against West Virginia.

Hardy was another potential starter coming into the season but was also absent from last week’s game. The cornerback appeared in every game last season, racking up 13 tackles, a forced fumble, an interception, and four pass breakups.

Vanover appeared in every game for the Nittany Lions last year, recording 16 tackles, two quarterback hurries, and three pass breakups. Vanover is listed as out after not playing in last week’s matchup.

Meiga recorded one reception for seven yards in last week’s matchup but is listed as out against Delaware. Last year, Meiga caught three passes for 19 yards in 12 games.

Evans is once again listed as questionable for Saturday’s game. Last week, Evans was also listed as questionable, and his only contribution was a false start, the team’s only penalty of the game. Evans is one of Penn State’s wide receivers vying for the third starting receiver spot.
