Penn State Field Hockey Ranked No. 12 In NFHCA Weekly Poll

Penn State field hockey dropped to No. 12 in the Division I National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s weekly rankings, the organization announced Tuesday.

The Nittany Lions dropped one spot from last week’s No.11 ranking.

The ranking comes in the midst of a three-game win streak that saw the Nittany Lions best Stanford 5-1, shutout Kent State 5-0, and take down No. 19 Delaware 4-1.

So far, Sophia Gladieux leads the team with nine goals through six games, while Carly Gannon fronts the team in assists with three on the year.

As for the rest of the Big Ten conference, Iowa stayed ranked at No. 1 this week, while Northwestern (No. 3), Maryland (No. 5), Michigan (No. 8), and Ohio State (No. 17) round out the rest of the Big Ten in the poll.

The Nittany Lions will continue their season at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 15, at home in Happy Valley against Rutgers in its conference opener.
