Penn State Student Arrested For Alleged September 22 Break-In & Assault

A 20-year-old student was arrested following an alleged home break-in and attack on a family in the early hours of September 22 on Metz Avenue.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by the State College Police Department Friday, Penn State student Aidan Malley entered the home of the Metz Avenue family around 1:30 a.m. by kicking in the front door and smashing a glass window pane.

Malley located the husband and wife and repeatedly told the couple “if you don’t call 911 now, you’re going to die,” according to the 911 call made by the wife. Malley followed the husband into his bedroom where he struck the husband several times, knocking him to the ground twice, and threw him against a wall.

The wife called 911 from the living room where she tried to keep Malley away from herself and the children. The report details that Malley struck her on the right side of her head and then ran out of the house.

Police also wrote that Malley entered the bedroom of the couple’s daughter who was sitting on the floor from the noise of the break-in. The report says that she yelled for Malley not to hurt her and to get out, and he left the bedroom without saying anything.

After exiting the house, Malley was located by officers on Osmond Street where he was taken into custody. Police wrote that Malley was found with lacerations on his hands, head, and legs. Residents identified Malley and he was then taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Malley will face felony charges for burglary and criminal trespass, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, and summary offenses for criminal mischief and harassment.

Bail was posted at $50,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4.
