Makenna Marisa Named To All-Big Ten Preseason Team

Penn State women’s basketball guard Makenna Marisa was named to the All-Big Ten preseason team, the conference announced Wednesday. Marisa was named to the group by coaches and media, though neither vote was unanimous for the fifth-year senior. This is Marisa’s second time earning the accolades after she was named to the group entering the 2022-23 season.

This year, Marisa will try to build off of her impressive 2022-23 campaign where she moved into the third spot all-time for 30-point games at Penn State with seven, and fifth in career three-pointers made with 187. Marisa also climbed to a whopping 1,750 career points last season.

Marisa has stamped herself in Lady Lion history by reaching 1,750 points, 500 rebounds, 175 three-pointers, and 400 assists over her career, and is the only player to ever achieve each of those milestones.

The guard started every game for the Lady Lions last year, averaging 17.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. Marisa led her squad in scoring, field goals made, free throws made, and free throw percentage. After last season, Marisa ended up on the First-Team All-Big Ten squad.
