‘The Church’ To Perform At The State Theatre October 12

Renowned Australian indie band The Church will perform at the State Theatre at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 12. The band is currently on the second leg of its U.S. tour, promoting its newest album “The Hypnogogue.”

Tickets can be purchased for between $46 and $51, or folks can opt for VIP “meet and greet” packages, which run at $168. All tickets and packages can be purchased here.

This Aussie band was founded in 1980 by bassist and vocalist Steve Kilbey and has expanded to include drummer and producer Tim Powles, guitarists Ian Haug and Ashley Naylor, and renowned instrumentalist Jeffery Cain. The group has since honed its craft of indie rock and punk-pop with a distinct cinematic flair to their music.

The band’s newest album “The Hypnogogue” showcases the storytelling qualities that the group is known for, as each track is part of a uniquely crafted storyline. The album is based on a fictitious sci-fi machine called the Hypnogogue, and takes listeners on a journey through a dystopian future, following two main characters: Eros Zeta and Sun Kim Jong. Intergalactic space travel, retro sci-fi, and the importance of true love are just a few of the themes fans can expect when listening to the album.

Be sure to catch the band at the State Theatre, as tour-exclusive CDs and merchandise will be on sale at the venue.
