After another loss to rival Ohio State in Columbus, Penn State’s College Football Playoff hopes once again rest on its matchup against the Michigan Wolverines this November.

Elsewhere around the world of college football, Nittany Lions of the past showed out on Saturday. In case you missed it, here’s a roundup of how these once-Penn Staters performed over the weekend.

Christian Veilleux, Pittsburgh

Despite Pittsburgh’s 21-17 loss to Wake Forest, quarterback Christian Veilleux continued to prove why he should remain the Panthers starting quarterback.

Veilleux completed 28 of his 45 attempts for 302 yards, and the quarterback also threw for two touchdowns in the game. While he didn’t have much of an impact in the run game, Veilleux ran for six yards on six carries.

Noah Cain, LSU

Noah Cain continues to only see real action for the LSU Tigers in blowouts, as the running back recorded seven carries in the Tigers’ 62-0 demolition of Army. He rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown in those seven carries.

Cain has now rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns on his 22 carries for the year.

Ta’Quan Roberson, UConn

After missing all of the 2022 season and the first two games of this year due to a knee injury, Ta’Quan Roberson has emerged as the unquestioned starter for the UConn Huskies.

The once-Nittany Lion threw for one touchdown and added one more on the ground in the Huskies’ 24-21 loss to the University of Southern Florida. Roberson totaled 175 passing yards for the game, bringing his season total to 1,145 yards and eight touchdowns, with only three interceptions.

Daniel George, Akron

It hasn’t been a season to remember for the Akron Zips, as their 41-14 loss to Bowling Green brought their season record to a measly 1-7. Wide receiver Daniel George proved to be one of the few bright spots for the team in its loss.

George caught seven passes for 74 yards on Saturday. He now has 31 catches for 298 yards for the season.
