After falling in heartbreaking fashion to Ohio State in the first round of the 2023 Big Ten Tournament and getting left out of the NCAA Tournament, Penn State field hockey’s season is officially over.

The season was full of ups, downs, smiles, and celebrations, and our photographers were right there on the sidelines of every home game to capture it all. Let’s take a look back through the season through the lenses of our photographers.

The Nittany Lions had to face some of the best teams in the country this season, including Iowa, Virginia, Rutgers, Maryland, Syracuse, Ohio State, Northwestern, and Michigan.

With so many tough matchups, Penn State was forced to play with intensity all season long, and no opponent was counted out. The Nittany Lions’ largest margin of victory was five goals but averaged 1.88-point games throughout its competitive season.

However, despite the trials and tribulations of the 9-8 season, the team was all smiles when playing in front of its home crowd at the newly-dedicated Char Morett-Curtiss Field.

Winning five games at home this season, there were lots of goal celebrations to take in and enjoy.

Senior Day left fans tearing up as we bid farewell to some of our favorite Nittany Lions, including legendary goalkeeper Brie Barraco.

At the close of Lisa Bervinchak-Love’s first season at the helm of the Nittany Lions, it’s bittersweet to have to wait until next fall to indulge in some Penn State field hockey.
