Report: Former Penn State Football Player & Coach Elijah Robinson To Serve As Texas A&M Interim Head Coach

Former Penn State football defensive tackle Elijah Robinson will serve as Texas A&M’s interim head coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Robinson, who served as the Aggies co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach, will step in after the program fired head coach Jimbo Fisher Sunday.

Robinson played for Penn State from 2005-06 as a member of the defensive line. His career was cut short in 2006 by a neck injury, but he continued to work for the Nittany Lions as a staff member and graduate assistant until 2011. From 2012-13, Robinson was an NFL liaison for Penn State and the team’s director of community relations.

Robinson left Penn State for Temple in 2014 when he took a job as the Owls’ defensive line coach under former Penn State football player Matt Rhule. When Rhule left Temple for Baylor in 2017, Robinson followed.

Robinson stayed with the Bears for just one season before taking his current job at Texas A&M. From 2018-21, he served as the Aggies defensive line coach. From 2022 onward, he served as the team’s defensive line coach, run game coordinator, and assistant head coach.
