Penn State Women’s Soccer Ranked No. 5 In Final United Soccer Coaches Poll

Penn State women’s soccer finished the 2023 season ranked No. 5 ranked in the United Soccer Coaches poll, the team announced Wednesday. The ranking was the Nittany Lions’ best end-of-season placement since 2017.

Penn State put together an impressive season in 2023. On the backs of All-American Cori Dyke and All-Region stars Kate Wiesner and Katherine Asman, Penn State finished just outside the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten, losing the top spot on the final day of regular season play.

After a 3-0 win over Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament, the Nittany Lions fell to Iowa on the road. Penn State followed the Big Ten Tournament with a good run in the NCAA Tournament but fell to Clemson in the quarterfinals.

Penn State finished the season as the top-ranked team of the programs that didn’t make the 2023 College Cup. The Nittany Lions sat behind No. 1 Florida State, No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Clemson, and No. 4 BYU. Penn State was ranked ahead of Big Ten teams No. 7 Nebraska, No. 12 Michigan State, No. 19 Wisconsin, and No. 24 Iowa.
