Penn State Football Offensive Tackle Olu Fashanu Earns Consensus All-American Honors

Penn State Football offensive tackle Olu Fashanu was given consensus All-American honors after being named a first-team All-American by Sporting News, the team announced Wednesday.

The nomination is the senior’s third first-team honor by an NCAA-recognized outlet, including first-team nods from the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. With the third nomination, Fashanu officially became a consensus All-American.

Fashanu is the 41st consensus All-American in Penn State history, and the first since Micah Parsons in 2019. Along with Fashanu and Parsons, Saquon Barkley and Carl Nassib also earned the distinction during James Franklin’s tenure.

During the 2023 regular season, Fashanu allowed just 11 pressures and didn’t give up a sack. His regular-season performance garnered lots of postseason attention, and the tackle was voted Rimington-Pace Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year and a finalist for the Walter V. Campbell Trophy.

Fashanu was heavily expected to declare for the NFL Draft after the 2022 season but stayed at Penn State because he thought the team had a chance to do something big in 2023. The Waldorf, Maryland, native is once again projected to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Nittany Lions will finish their 2023 campaign at the Peach Bowl against No. 11 Ole Miss in Atlanta, Georgia. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at noon on Saturday, December 30.
