Penn State Women’s Volleyball Outside Hitter Jess Mruzik Named AVCA Second Team All-American

Penn State women’s volleyball star Jess Mruzik was named an AVCA Second Team All-American, the organization announced Wednesday. Mruzik was the only Nittany Lion and one of 10 players from the Big Ten recognized as an All-American by the AVCA.

Mruzik was a key component for the Nittany Lions in 2023, as she led Penn State to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. During that tournament run, Mruzik became one of the few players in the nation to record 500 kills in a single season. Her 519 total kills were good for No. 4 in the Big Ten, and her 583.5 total points were the third-most in the conference.

Previously, Mruzik was named a First-Team All-Big Ten selection alongside Mac Podraza. Along with Camryn Hannah and Taylor Trammell, Mruzik announced she will spend her final season of NCAA eligibility at Penn State in 2024.
