Former Penn State Football Linebacker Paul Posluszny Named To College Football Hall Of Fame

Former Penn State football linebacker Paul Posluszny was named to the College Football Hall of Fame, the College Football Federation announced Monday. Posluszny became the 26th Nittany Lion to be named a Hall of Famer.

Posluszny was a two-time first-team All-American during the 2005 and 2006 seasons and holds the second-most tackles in Penn State history with 372. Posluszny also received the 2005 Butkus Award, which is given annually to the best linebacker in college football.

After his time at Penn State, Posluszny was in the NFL for 11 seasons, playing for the Buffalo Bills for four years and the Jacksonville Jaguars for the remaining seven. Posluszny reached the Pro Bowl in 2013, set a single-season record for the Jaguars, and finished his career with more than 1,200 tackles, 15 interceptions, and eight forced fumbles.

Posluszny was included on this year’s ballot with fellow Nittany Lions Ki-Jana Carter and D.J. Dozier, though Posluszny was the only Penn Stater selected. Of the 25 Nittany Lions selected before Posluszny, LaVar Arrington was most recently inducted in 2022, and the group also includes Heisman Trophy winner John Cappelletti, Heisman Trophy runner-up Kerry Collins, Jack Ham, and Joe Paterno.

Induction for the College Football Hall of Fame will take place on December 10 at the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner. Posluszny and the rest of the inductees will be permanently recognized in the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
