Penn State Men’s Hockey Falls Out Of USCHO Poll

Penn State men’s hockey was unranked in the latest USCHO poll released Monday. The Nittany Lions received 29 top-20 votes, the highest number of votes by an unranked team, but it wasn’t enough to remain in the poll.

This marks the first time this season and the first time since October 3, 2022, Penn State has been unranked. The drop follows back-to-back losses to Michigan State over the weekend where the Nittany Lions were outscored 12-3.

The Nittany Lions were previously ranked No. 20 in the poll and faced the No. 8 Spartans. Ranked at No. 16 to start the season, Penn State reached as high as No. 12 on October 16 before its tumble began.

Penn State is now 2-7-3 against Big Ten opponents as it travels to South Bend to face Notre Dame, which received 16 votes in the latest poll, on Friday, January 19, at 7:30 p.m. The second game will be on Saturday, January 20, at 6 p.m.
