Former Penn State Football Running Back John Lovett Signs With San Antonio Brahmas

Former Penn State football running back John Lovett has signed with the San Antonio Brahmas of the new United Football League, the league announced Friday.

Lovett played for Penn State in 2021, appearing in nine games. He finished his brief stint with the Nittany Lions with 177 rushing yards on 52 attempts, 36 receiving yards on nine catches, and 63 kick return yards on four attempts. Before Penn State, Lovett spent four years at Baylor, racking up 1,803 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. He also notched 183 yards and a touchdown through the air.

After college, Lovett signed a contract as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers. His time in Carolina was short-lived, as he moved on to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Vegas Vipers of the XFL. With Vegas, Lovett rushed for 227 yards and three touchdowns and notched 269 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
