Penn State Wrestling Earns 50th Straight Dual Meet Win Against Michigan State

No. 1 Penn State wrestling etched another milestone into its ever-growing list of accolades as it reached 50 straight dual meet wins against Michigan State Sunday.

Before this momentous streak, Penn State held another stretch of wins from 2015 to 2019 that lasted 1,741 days. While the Nittany Lions held 60 straight wins at the time, the all-time record is held by Oklahoma State at 76 straight dual wins.

The Nittany Lions’ last losses came at the hands of Arizona State 19-18 on November 22, 2019, and Iowa 19-17 on January 31, 2020.

Since the loss to Iowa, Penn State won two national championship titles in 2022 and 2023 and placed second in 2021 to Iowa. During those two championship wins, seven Nittany Lions have taken the top spot in their weight class.

In the 2024 season, Penn State is 6-0 and has outscored its opponents 217-33. The Nittany Lions will aim to stay focused throughout their conference schedule as they face ranked teams No. 7 Ohio State, No. 3 Iowa, No. 13 Rutgers, and No. 6 Nebraska in the coming weeks.

Head coach Cael Sanderson and his crew will work toward continuing their streak against Maryland at noon on Sunday, January 28, in College Park, Maryland.
