Nittany Lions In The NFL: Divisional Weekend Roundup

We’ve got three football games left, folks.

After last week, Penn State was represented on every team left in the playoffs, guaranteeing a Nittany Lion will win the Super Bowl.

Even though a Nittany Lion is present on every remaining roster, only five Penn Staters recorded a stat in this week’s slate of NFL contests.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter of last week’s game to solidify the win over the Philadephia Eagles, Godwin had a tough game against the Detroit Lions.

The wide receiver caught four of his eight targets for 40 yards during the Buccaneers’ 31-23 loss.

DaQuan Jones, Buffalo Bills

Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones racked up 16 total tackles and 2.5 sacks during the regular season. Jones has also had stats in both of the Bills’ playoff games, recording two tackles last week against the Steelers and one assisted tackle this week against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ryan Bates and Connor McGovern join Jones as the three Penn Staters currently on the Bills’ roster.

Jason Cabinda, Detroit Lions

Throughout the regular season, Jason Cabinda got the ball one time but finished with zero yards. During the Detroit Lions’ 31-23 win over the Buccaneers, the fullback caught his only target of the game but ended up going nowhere.

Odafe Oweh, Baltimore Ravens

After getting last week off as the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, the Ravens returned to action and delivered a 34-10 beatdown of the Houston Texans. Linebacker Odafe Oweh had 20 solo tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles during the regular season. During the win, Oweh accounted for one assisted tackle.

Jordan Stout, Baltimore Ravens

Punter Jordan Stout had a successful regular season where he averaged 47.8 yards on 66 punt attempts with a long of 67 yards. During Baltimore’s win, Stout punted four times for a 42.3-yard average but missed a tackle that allowed a punt return touchdown early in the game.
