Five Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Players Named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans

Preseason awards keep rolling in for Penn State men’s lacrosse as five players made Preseason All-American teams, Inside Lacrosse announced Monday. TJ Malone, Grant Haus, Matt Traynor, and Jack Fracyon were all given second-team mentions while Jack Posey was named to the third team after all of them were recognized by USA Lacrosse Magazine.

Malone had a career season of 73 points last year, which led both Penn State and the Big Ten. He was the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and will step into a new role as captain this season. Malone has 52 career appearances and scored 110 goals and 65 assists while at Penn State.

Haus returns for his fifth year after honorable mentions for his senior season. He recorded a career-high 35 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers, with at least one ground ball in all 16 games. Haus also steps in as captain this year.

Traynor comes into his junior year after an outstanding sophomore season, with 32 goals and seven assists for 39 points. During his sophomore campaign, Traynor recorded two five-goal games and recorded multiple goals in eight separate games.

Fraycon started all 16 games last season, with a save percentage of .562 and a career-high 222 saves, the best in the nation, and was named Big Ten Specialist of the Year. Last year, Fraycon allowed 10.89 goals per game and led the Big Ten in saves per game with 13.88.

Posey is the third captain this season, standing as the top defenseman with 11 caused turnovers and 25 ground balls last season. He received honors including All-Big Ten Second Team and returns from injury for a fifth year.

Penn State’s season kicks off at noon on Saturday, February 3, at Panzer Stadium against Colgate.
