Class Of 2025 Three-Star Safety Omari Gaines Decommits From Penn State Football

Class of 2025 safety Omari Gaines has decommitted from Penn State football, he announced Friday via Twitter. Gaines, a three-star in the 247Sports Composite ratings, was a middle-of-the-pack recruit for Penn State in his class.

Gaines originally committed to Penn State nearly a year ago, on March 28, 2023. While he was unrated at the time, he has since earned his three-star status in the 247Sports Composite ratings.

A 6’2,” 175-pound defensive back from Newark, New Jersey, Gaines continued to pick up offers from other schools after his commitment to Penn State, though there’s little indication as to where he could select if not Penn State.

Penn State still has one defensive back commitment from the recruiting Class of 2025, cornerback Xxavier Thomas. Thomas is rated as a three-star by 247Sports and hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Some of Gaines’ top offers include the likes of Michigan State, Pitt, Ole Miss, and others.
