Penn State Softball’s Kaitlyn Morrison Earns Big Ten Player Of The Week

Penn State softball shortstop Kaitlyn Morrison was named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The honor was the first of her career.

Through four games at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, Morrison has hit .600 while knocking three extra-base hits and five RBIs. Thus far through the invitational, Penn State has won all four of its games.

Through this season, Morrison has hit .374 and recorded a .500 on-base percentage. Her five doubles on the year are good enough for seventh-most in the Big Ten. In the last seven games alone, of which the Nittany Lions have won all, Morrison has recorded a hit in more than half her plate appearances.

Morrison and Penn State will try to continue their hot streak with a win over No. 2 Texas in the invitational. The contest will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday and will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.
