Officially official, folks.

Former Penn State football running back has officially signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Wednesday. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Barkley signed a three-year contract worth up to $46.75 million.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, Barkley’s decision came down to the Eagles, Chicago Bears, and Houston Texans while the Giants never made Barkley an offer. Barkley reposted Schultz’s report on Twitter.

Barkley was a standout at Penn State from 2015 to 2017. With the Nittany Lions, he rushed for 3,843 yards, which stands as the second-highest total in Penn State history in addition to 43 touchdowns on 671 attempts. Barkley also recorded 1,195 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches. At the end of his Penn State career, Barkley finished fourth in voting for the Heisman trophy.

Barkley spent the previous six years of his NFL career with the New York Giants, who drafted him in 2018. The Giants selected Barkley with the No. 2 overall selection, and he rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns en route to earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors by the Associated Press.

Across his six years with the Giants, Barkley struggled with injuries but still rushed for a total of 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns while catching 288 passes for 2,100 yards and 12 touchdowns. During the 2023 season, Barkley recorded 962 yards rushing and 280 yards receiving.

A native of Coplay, Pennsylvania, Barkley will return to his home state to play for Philadelphia.
