Penn State, State College To Host Earth Day Events April 19 & 20

Penn State and State College are hosting a number of events to celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20.

Penn State Eco Action is hosting its annual EarthFest celebration on Friday, April 19. EarthFest will take place on the HUB Lawn from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with information tables, lawn games, live music, tree planting, and more.

On Saturday, April 20, the Student Farm will host an event from 1 to 3 p.m. to celebrate the holiday. It will highlight the intersections between environmental sustainability and food systems, with plant sales, backyard composting demos, a seed-saving workshop, and more.

Penn State’s Arboretum will also host a celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. open to all ages with activities to learn about Earth. No registration is required and it is free for all to attend.

The Clearwater Conservancy will host its 28th annual Watershed Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to noon. The four-hour cleanup brings volunteers together to clean up local streams and open spaces to make a lasting difference in the community. Since the beginning, volunteers have prevented more than six million pounds of trash from entering the local waterways.

Sustainable State College will host its first-ever community Earth Day Celebration on Saturday April 20, from noon to 4 p.m. in the State College Municipal Building. It will have information booths, engagement stations and workshops, and art exhibits free for all.
