Curtis Jacobs Signs With Kansas City Chiefs As Undrafted Free Agent

Update, 7:52 p.m.:

Curtis Jacobs has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, Penn State confirmed.

Original Story:

Former Penn State football linebacker Curtis Jacobs will sign with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, per Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star. Jacobs was expected to be selected during the NFL Draft but missed hearing his name in Detroit.

The Maryland native was Penn State’s highest-ranked commit in 2020 as a four-star recruit and top linebacker prospect. Jacobs joined the Nittany Lions as Micah Parsons was finishing up his final season and filled his shoes over the next few years.

Jacobs had a quiet true freshman year with appearances in eight games and nine tackles but jumped up to become a constant presence in defense over the last three seasons.

In his second season, the linebacker played in 12 games with 61 tackles, three sacks, and an interception.

Jacobs started to gain more recognition in 2022 and 2023, earning All-Big Ten honorable mentions. In 2022, he recorded 52 tackles, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, two pass breakups, and an interception returned for a touchdown.

In his last season in Happy Valley, Jacobs started all 13 games with 50 tackles, 31 solo tackles, 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and five quarterback hurries. He was ranked second in the Big Ten for fumble recoveries.

Jacobs will join Hunter Nourzad in Kansas City after the Nittany Lion center was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round on Saturday.
