Defending NCAA Champion Greg Kerkvliet Announces Return To Penn State Wrestling
Greg Kerkvliet is returning to the Nittany Lions for the 2024-2025 season, the defending NCAA heavyweight champion announced Wednesday evening. Kerkvliet’s return for a sixth season will be his last year of NCAA eligibility.
Last season, Kerkvliet had a 20-0 record, was a four-time All-American, and defeated Michigan’s Lucas Davison by major decision 13-4 to become the nation’s heavyweight national champion at 285 pounds.
In the 2022-23 season, Kerkvliet finished as the runner-up at NCAA Championships and Big Ten Championships. He’s a four-time All-American with a career record of 79-10.
Kerkvliet will try to defend his title in the 2024-25 season as he, Beau Bartlett, and Carter Starocci will all return for their last season of eligibility.
