BRGR Closes In State College

BRGR has been shut down at its College Avenue location in State College. The restaurant defaulted on its rent, according to StateCollege.com.

According to StateCollege.com, in a letter sent by the property landlord and included in the filing, BRGR didn’t pay its rent nor fulfill a repayment plan and had until April 3 to pay the full balance of $64,993.01. Because it defaulted on its lease, property owner Calder Joint Venture was “entitled to recover possession of the premises,” attorney Kathleen Yurchak wrote in a court filing.

According to a sign on the door, the items in the restaurant will be up for auction on Thursday, May 23.

Opening in 2019, BRGR was a popular spot that was known for its specialty burgers, including the “Average Joe,” “Button Buster,” “The BRGR,” and more. It also offered milkshakes, both with and without alcohol, salads, sides, and appetizers. The restaurant was originally supposed to have a patio, though those plans never came to fruition.
