Penn State Women’s Soccer Alum, Trustee Ali Krieger To Co-Host ‘Futbol W’ On ESPN

Former Penn State women’s soccer star and current member of Penn State’s Board of Trustees Ali Krieger will be one half of ESPN’s new women’s soccer show, “Futbol W,” the network announced. Krieger will partner with Sebastian Salazar, co-host of Futbol Americas.

“We are pleased to launch ‘Futbol W’ amid the popularity and excitement around women’s sports, which is at an all-time high in the United States,” said Manny de la Fe, ESPN’s vice president of production, per Pro Soccer Wire. “‘Futbol W’ will inform, entertain, and showcase the incredible athletes to sports fans. It will be our signature news and analysis studio program – a weekly one-stop destination for fans to get their need-to-know insight about women’s soccer.”

At Penn State, Krieger won four Big Ten Championships from 2003-06. She made 94 appearances for the Nittany Lions, recorded 11 goals, earned All-American distinction at two different positions, and was named the 2006 Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Kriger was elected as a Penn State Board of Trustee alumni member in May 2023, running on a platform based on gender and LGBTQ+ equality and fair workplace conditions for Penn State students.

The first episode of “Futbol W” will debut at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
