Penn State Football’s Abdul Carter & Sal Wormley Named To Watch Lists

Penn State football defensive end Abdul Carter has been named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list, and Penn State offensive lineman Sal Wormley was named to the Outland Trophy watch list.

The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is awarded to the best defensive player in college football. Carter has already gotten plenty of preseason attention, being named a preseason USA Today All-Big Ten player and a Walter Camp preseason All-American at linebacker. Entering his junior year at Penn State, Carter will play as a defensive end after spending his freshman and sophomore years at linebacker. Two years into his Penn State career, Carter has recorded 105 total tackles, 11 sacks, 10 passes defended, three forced fumbles, and an interception.

The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best interior lineman, offensive or defensive, in college football. Worlmey appeared alongside Carter on the USA Today preseason list and is the only returning consistent starter to Penn State’s offensive line. Wormley has been an All-Big Ten honorable mention twice in the last two years.

Carter and Wormley joined several other Nittany Lions who have appeared on watch lists ahead of the 2024 season, including Drew Allar and Nick Singleton, as well as Tyler Duzansky.
