Jonathan Sutherland Waived By New York Giants

Former Penn State football linebacker Jonathan Sutherland was waived by the New York Giants, the organization announced Sunday. Sutherland’s stint with New York lasted a week and a half after he was signed on August 15.

Sutherland appeared in one game for the Giants, making two tackles in a loss against the New York Jets. While Sutherland previously signed with the Seattle Seahawks, the game against the Jets was his first NFL appearance.

Sutherland played for Penn State from 2017-22 and was the first player to wear No. 0 in the program. Sutherland recorded 58 appearances, 11 starts, 137 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble as a Nittany Lion. He was also known for blocking two punts against Idaho in 2019.
