Penn State women’s volleyball star Kennedy Martin has been named the AVCA Division I Player of the Week, the association announced Tuesday.

Martin was stellar in the Nittany Lions’ two-win week, averaging 5.75 kills per set and 6.56 points per set.

Martin tied her season high with 25 kills and added four blocks and seven digs against No. 10 Oregon. She didn’t stop there, though, recording another five blocks, nine digs, two aces, and 21 kills against No. 18 Indiana.

For her efforts, Martin also earned Big Ten Player of the Week — her fourth time winning the award. She leads the Nittany Lions in kills (311), total attempts (719), and points (375.5).

Penn State jumped three spots in the AVCA poll thanks to the two big wins and now sits at No. 13.

Martin and the rest of the Nittany Lions take on Ohio State next on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall. Folks unable to attend the game can watch on the Big Ten Network.
