Your Official Halloweekend Drinking Game 2026

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, we’re not talking about Christmas — it’s Halloweekend in Happy Valley!

After weeks of midterms, assignments, and pretending to pay attention in class, Penn Staters finally have an excuse to throw on a ridiculous costume and take over downtown State College.

So round up your crew, decide who’s hosting the pregame, and get ready for another unforgettable Halloweekend in Happy Valley.

Without further ado, here’s your official Penn State Halloweekend drinking game!

  • If you waited until the day before Halloween to buy your costume, take a sip. You had all year to prepare for one of the best weekends of the year; you deserve it.
  • If your costume is just a jersey from your closet, take a sip. We’re not even going to pretend you tried.
  • If you see someone wearing the same costume as you, raise your glass. Great minds think alike.
  • If your friend changes their costume an hour before going out, take a sip. We’ve had this planned for three weeks.
  • If a friend claims they don’t need a costume because they’re going as themselves, take a sip. That’s just being lazy.
  • If you see someone wearing a bedsheet with two eyeholes cut out, take a sip. The costume budget must’ve been tight this year.
  • If someone shows up to the pregame wearing a costume meant for 80-degree weather, take a sip. It’s October in State College, not Miami.
  • If someone insists on playing Halloween music at the pregame, take a sip. We get it. It’s October.
  • If someone starts playing Christmas music at the pregame, grab some eggnog. Relax, Santa. We’re not there yet.
  • If you hear “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, raise your glass. The King of Pop deserves some respect.
  • If your group spends 30 minutes arguing about which bar to hit first, take a sip. At this rate, we’re never leaving the apartment.
  • If your friend says they’re taking it easy tonight, take a sip. We’ll see about that.
  • If your friend complains about paying a cover after spending $80 on his costume, take a sip. Make it make sense.
  • If someone says, “The line isn’t that bad,” while you’re standing halfway down the block of the bar, take a sip. We’ll be inside by Thanksgiving.
  • If you spot someone walking downtown in a full inflatable costume, raise your glass. You’ve got to respect that level of commitment.
  • If someone starts a “We Are” chant in the middle of downtown, raise your glass. Some traditions never die.
  • If you lose a friend within 10 minutes of arriving downtown, take a sip. They’re on a side quest.
  • If you end the night at Benny Leone’s, take a sip of water. You’ve earned that slice.

Have a safe Halloweekend, Penn State! Drink responsibly and look out for your friends!
