Penn State Hoops Announces 2026-27 Team Captains

O Captain! My Captain!

Penn State men’s basketball has announced its team captains for the 2026-27 season ahead of Monday’s home opener. Thomas Allard, Josh Reed, and Dasonte Bowen will lead the Nittany Lions into battle.

Allard is a 6-foot-7 graduate transfer from Alabama-Huntsville. The guard helped lead the Chargers to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16, averaging 13.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.25 assists per game in 2025-26.

Prior to Alabama-Huntsville, he played three seasons for Lincoln Memorial, a Division II college in Tennessee.

Reed is one of the few returning players in Happy Valley this season after he won a claim for a fifth year of eligibility. Another graduate student, Reed transferred to Penn State from Cincinnati before the 2025-26 season.

With the Bearcats, Reed played 98 games across three seasons. In his best year, the 6-foot-8 forward averaged 4.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 85.3% from the free-throw line.

Bowen rounds out the leadership group. He transferred to Penn State this offseason after two years with St. Bonaventure and two with Iowa.

Last season he averaged 10.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.
