When Franco Harris received the 2016 Lion's Paw Medal at Penn State's alumni reunion weekend June 2, his acceptance speech didn't go quite like Alumni Association Director Paul Clifford and some all-class luncheon attendees expected.

The university announced last month that an unexpected uptick in acceptances close to the May 1 deadline resulted in the larger-than-expected class, about 1000 more than enrolled in the 2015 freshman class and 500 more than in 2014.

The PSAAForAll interest group took four of ten positions in this year's Alumni Council election.

The Rock Ethics Institute, a branch of the College of the Liberal Arts, appointed Ted Toadvine as its new director earlier this month. Toadvine, who will come to Penn State from the University of Oregon, will take over the new role in the beginning of 2017.

“Kathy is an experienced administrator, engaged teacher and accomplished researcher, with a long history of service to the College of Education and the University,” Penn State Executive Vice President and Provost Nicholas Jones said in a press release. “I have every confidence she will provide outstanding leadership for the honors college as we move forward through this transition.”
