GSpan to Release State of University Address Sept. 17

There are some things that are bound to happen every year at Penn State: Rumors swirl about JoePa retiring. People raise an absurd amount of money for THON. The Nittany Lion gets into trouble with the law. Tuition increases. We have our hopes and dreams dashed by Iowa (Bolden, prove me wrong!).

But the most important occurrence of all is the Graham Spanier State of the University Address. This year’s video will be presented to the Board of Trustees on Sept. 17 and then posted online. The address consists of four videos, each focusing on a different group of Staters — students, faculty, staff and alumni.  We’ve been waiting almost a year for this address, so I hope it can top last year’s (high standard!).

How, you may be asking, can one prepare for the speech’s release?

  • Skip your classes on Friday. We don’t know exactly when the video will be released, and I’m pretty sure we all want to watch it as soon as it comes out.
  • Go Big Brother on the Board of Trustees meeting to be there when GSpan presents the address.
  • Pregame it.
  • Bring a change of pants. Yeah, it’s that exciting.

The Future of Footwear Comes to Penn State

A new fad has hit Penn State, one that threatens to be greater than Pogs, Pokemon, and Yo-yos combined. They make you feel like Buzz Aldrin, and make Sketchers’ ShapeUps look conservative.  I’m referring, of course, to Kangoo Jumps (KJs). Already rumored to be featured on the Richard Simmons comeback exercise video (full disclosure: the author started this rumor…right now), Kangoo Jumps are taking State College by storm, in all their goofy glory.
