International Suit Up Day 2010, Why Not?

Who doesn’t look good in a suit? I’m glad you asked. Here’s the answer: no one. That’s why today fans of the hit television show How I Met Your Mother are officially celebrating International Suit Up Day.

Instructions for those who wish to participate in today’s festivities:

  • Party in a suit
  • Play laser tag in a suit
  • Go to school or work in a suit
  • Sleep in a suit
  • Drink in a suit
  • If you see someone without a suit, tell them to go home and suit up, and convince them to watch How I Met Your Mother.
  • Insert any other activity in a suit.

As the Facebook event page denotes, “You don’t have to be a How I Met Your Mother fan to wear a suit, because suits are awesome anyways.” Truth. If you’re feeling a little more on the creative side, this could technically be applied to any type of suit: penguin suit, flight suit, etc. Disclaimer: Onward State is not suggesting that you should run around all day in your birthday suit.

So on that note, “Send casual Friday down the laundry shoot,” make sure your ties are straight, don’t pretend like a blazer with jeans will make the cut, and play this song on repeat. Suit up!

“If you’ve ever seen the movie You’ve Got Mail, you’ll understand me when I say I have the “Kathleen Kelly Syndrome.” I often have trouble saying exactly what I mean. Instead, I find it easier to outsource by using quotes or songs to convey my message. That’s why you’ll find a few of my favorites scattered throughout this post: my senior column.”
