THON supporters have been tweeting up a storm lately nominating the philanthropy for a Shorty Award in the charity category. Currently The Trevor Project is in first place with over 1450 votes, whereas THON is quickly making its way up the list, moving from 13th to 6th place in less than a day.

Andrew Lambert, a THON 2011 Public Relations Alternative Media Captain says it is an honor to even be nominated for an award let alone in the top ten.

Winning a Shorty Award would be great because it will help spread awareness for The Four Diamonds Fund and pediatric cancer. THON has an active online community that we feel exemplifies what the shorty awards are all about.

Other Shorty Award categories include Four Square Location of the Year, Best Actor/Actress, and Politics. If you are as much of a Twitter fanatic as I am, check out the Shorty Awards and vote for your favorite organizations and people. There are a bunch of categories, and each Twitter account is allowed one vote in each.
