The Penn State baseball team will play its home opener Wednesday afternoon at 3:35 p.m. at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Nittany Lions (3-14) have had a rough start to the season and I’m sure playing on their home field is a welcoming advantage after being swept by East Carolina last weekend. The Lions will host the University of Pittsburgh Panthers (10-7) who are coming off a series sweep of Hartford last weekend.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game are $4 for students. Season tickets are still on sale at the HUB and can be purchased from 10:00 a.m.-4:00p.m. until this Friday. Students get quite a package for season ticket purchases. For $20 students get tickets for 22 home games, a 3/4 sleeve Penn State baseball t-shirt, a free hot-dog and soda at Friday home games, and can take part in two batting practice sessions with the team.

Wednesday’s game is a fan-favorite “Dollar Dog Night”; one of seven during the season. Another thing to look forward to this season will be “Winning Weeknight Scratch-Offs” The first 200 attendees to enter the park during a weeknight game will be given a free scratch off ticket. Everyone who receives a scratch off is guaranteed to win a Penn State Baseball prize.

Sunny skies and 75 degree temps are in the forecast for Wednesday’s game, which makes for a great time to be hang out with friends at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, eat hot dogs and watch some Nittany Lion baseball.
