Puttin’ On the Ritz: Young Frankenstein at PSU

Do you like musicals, horror movies, Mel Brooks’ brand of slapstick and wordplay, and rolling in the hay? Then Young Frankenstein, which stops at Eisenhower Auditorium this Wednesday, is the show for you.

The touring production of Young Frankenstein, adapted from the 1974 comedy, follows the grandson of mad scientist Victor Frankenstein as he comes to Transylvania to inherit his family castle, servants, and laboratory. Though Frederick Frankenstein– he prefers the pronunciation “Fronkensteen” –is initially reluctant to embrace the past, he eventually decides to carry on with his grandfather’s research into the reanimation of the dead. Which of course leads to angry mobs, romantic entanglements, and giant green tap-dancing monsters.

The Center for the Performing Arts sent us this cool video of the Monster’s make-up process. If you want to learn more about the show or buy tickets, check out their website.
