5 Things To Do: Blue & White Weekend

Blue-White Weekend is one of the best weekends in the spring every year. It’s time to break out the tailgating stuff (and ponchos, it rains every year) and get ready for some football!

As much as we might not want to admit it, there are many different things to do during Blue-White Weekend, even if you don’t like football. Here’s a list of the top five things you should do this weekend:

1. Wings Fest/Carnival (6-8:30 p.m. Friday)
Anytime you can get cheap wings, it’s something you should take advantage of. Many different vendors will be vying for the title of Wings Fest Champ, so they’ll certainly be on their A-game to please us. Tickets are $1 each, and you can get 3 wings per ticket. The carnival runs all weekend, and will feature many different rides and games.

2. Go Go Gadjet (5:45-8:45 p.m. Friday)
Most students know Go Go Gadjet from playing at Indigo and THON, but people outside of the State College area don’t. It should be cheap entertainment if your family is coming in for the weekend.

3. Lionettes Performance (11:30 a.m. Saturday)
If you haven’t heard, the Lionettes won the UDA Team National Championship earlier this month. Even if you don’t know anything about dance, go and support these ladies who have worked hard all year and came out on top.

4. Beaver Stadium 5K Run/Family Walk (10 a.m. Sunday)
All the money that this event raises goes straight to the Special Olympics of PA, and it has raised over $120,000 the past two years. Plus, this year’s race is dedicated to late Coach Joe Paterno.

5. Bill O’Brien Speaking (8:45 p.m. Friday)
As much as I tried, I couldn’t leave football out completely! Coach BOB is speaking to the public after Go Go Gadget performs, and it will be many people’s first chance to hear our new coach in person. He’s already proven to be a great speaker.
